Grading
The following grade scale has been in place at NTNU since autumn 2006.
| A | Excellent | 90 - 100 | D | Satisfactory | 50 - 59 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| B | Very good | 80 - 89 | E | Sufficient | 40 - 49 |
| C | Good | 60 - 79 | F | Fail | 0 - 39 |
Completed/Not Completed is used where assessment is not required.
Note that the scores are instructive, and they may be modified in order to correspond with the qualitative grade distribution.
To ease the communication in the assessment process and to enable a grading of courses where assessment is based on several activities (lab, mandatory exercises, essays, final exam) an intermediate grading in percent points is commonly used.
Concerning the grading, one examiner is required for written exams. For oral examinations and assessment of other activities that cannot be subsequently checked, at least two examiners must present. For the assessment of project and MSc thesis at least two examiners, of whom at least one should be external is required. The Department of Telematics seeks as far as possible to use one external and one internal examiner for all types of grading.
