PhD in Telematics

The PhD in Telematics program is a 3 year full-time study (180 ECTS credits) including:

Half a year of courses (30 ECTS credits)

With the standard NTNU courses of 7.5 ECTS credits, this means 4 courses. At least 3 of them must be from the PhD course plan and are typically chosen among those given by the department. Courses from other departments, e.g. mathematics or computer science, can to a certain extent be chosen.

Two and a half years of research effort (150 ECTS credits)

The topic for the dissertation will normally be related to the research activity at the department.

The plan for the study is established by the candidate in co-operation with the responsible professor, the department and the external funding party, when applicable. The duration of the study may be extended with up to one year, i.e. 4 years in total, if the student undertakes teaching assistance, operation of labs. or similar activities.
