[Award] Best-paper award at SECURWARE 2012

Hristina Mihajloska and Danilo Gligoroski received the best-paper award at the 6th International Conference on Emerging Security Information, Systems and Technologies (SECURWARE 2012), Aug. 19-24 2012, Rome, Italy, for their paper entitled « Construction of Optimal 4-bit S-boxes by Quasigroups of Order 4 ».

[Publication][Information security] Four new papers accepted

The paper "Detection of Masqueraded Wireless Access Using 802.11 MAC Layer Fingerprints" by Christer Idland, Thomas Jelle and Stig F. Mjølsnes has been accepted for publication at the 4th International Conference on Digital Forensics & Cyber Crime (ICDF2C), to be held Oct 25-26 2012 in Lafayette, Indiana, United States.

The paper "A Vulnerability in the UMTS and LTE Authentication and Key Agreement Protocols" by Joe-Kai Tsay and Stig F. Mjølsnes has been accepted for publication at the 6th International Conference on Mathematical Methods, Models, and Architectures for Computer Network Security (MMM-ACNS-2012), to be held Oct 17-20 2012 in St.Petersburg, Russia.

The paper "PEVS: A Secure Electronic Voting Scheme using Polling Booths" by Md. Abdul Based, Joe-Kai Tsay and Stig F. Mjølsnes has been accepted for publication at the 2012 International Conference on Data and Knowledge Engineering (ICDKE 2012), to be held Nov 21-23 2012 in Wu Yi Shan, Fujian, China.

The paper "Left MQQs whose left parastrophe is also quadratic" by Simona Samardjiska and Danilo Gligoroski has been published in the mathematical journal COMMENTATIONES MATHEMATICAE UNIVERSITATIS CAROLINAE (CMUC). Read abstract.

[PhD graduation] Congratulations to Patcharee Thongtra

Patcharee Thongtra successfully completed her trial lecture and PhD thesis defence on Wed Sep 26 2012 and will be awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Telematics).

The title of her thesis is « A Service Framework for Capability-based Adaption in Adaptable Service Systems » and the given topic for her trial lecture was « Application Paradigms for Smartphones »

The following committee had been appointed to evaluate her thesis, trial lecture and defence:

  • Associate Professor Chutiporn Anutariya, Shinawatra University, Samkok

Joe-Kay Tsay gave an invited talk together Yusuke Kawamoto from Birmingham University, UK, on Sep 13, 2012 at the institute for computer science at Tartu University, Estonia.

The title of the talk was: "The 'Million Message Attack' in 15,000 Messages - Efficient Padding Oracle Attacks on Estonian Electronic ID Card, Security Tokens and Smart Cards".

[PhD graduation] Congratulations to Martin Eian

Martin Eian successfully completed his trial lecture and PhD thesis defence on Fri Sep 21 2012 and will be awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Telematics).

The title of his thesis is « Robustness in wireless network access protocols » and the given topic for his trial lecture was « The 802.11 protocol suite, what is it evolving towards? »

The following committee had been appointed to evaluate his thesis, trial lecture and defence:
