[PhD graduation] Congratulations to Addisu Tadesse Eshete

Addisu Tadesse Eshete successfully completed his trial lecture and PhD thesis defence on Fri Nov 30 2012 and will be awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Telematics).

The title of his thesis is « Stateless and statelet flow protection for the Internet »  and the given topic for his trial lecture was « Software defined networking: what impacts on the future Internet ».

The following committee had been appointed to evaluate his thesis, trial lecture and defence:

  • Dr. James Roberts, INRIA, France
  • Prof. Michael Welzl, University of Oslo, Norway / Swinburne University of Technology, Australia
  • Prof. Peder J. Emstad, Department of Telematics, NTNU

Prof. Peder J. Emstad, Department of Telematics, NTNU had been appointed as the administrator of the assessment committee.

Addisu Tadesse Eshete carried out his PhD work at Q2S and at the Department of Telematics, NTNU. His main supervisor was Prof. Yuming Jiang.

[Media] 10 years of Centres of Excellence

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the first generation of Centres of Excellence. One such a centre has been the Centre for Quantifiable Quality of Service in Communication Systems (Q2S) which has been a cooperation between the Department of Telematics and the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications at NTNU and Uninett.

[Publication] Two papers accepted in the International Journal on Advances in Networks and Services

The papers:

have been accepted for publication in the IARIA International Journal on Advances in Networks and Services, vol. 5, no. 3&4, to be issued by the end of Dec. 2012. They are extended versions of papers presented at the 8th International Conference on Networking and Systems (ICNS 2012) earlier this year.

[Other] New research school of Computer and Information Security

The Research Council announced on Mon Nov 26, 2012 the funding of 10 new national research schools. One of them will be the research school of Computer and Information Security (COINS) which will hosted by Gjøvik University College. This is a result of a join application from several partners in the FRISC network which is headed by Prof. Stig F. Mjøslnes.
